Since the industrial revolution, human has increasingly interacted with the nature, extracting its resources, and polluting the environment. As Asia is rising up as an economic giant in the world, it also induces series of environmental issues, like air pollution, water management problem, deforestation & land degradation and climatic change. This module assesses the current environmental issues in Asia, by exploring various aspects of environmental problems, in relations to globalization, and the unique developmental, political and cultural characteristics in the region. It also examines the possible scientific, technological, social and institutional solutions to tackle these environmental problems, and the opportunity of attaining sustainable development in Asia.
